Marcia A. Morrison Future Leader's Academic Scholarship



BACKGROUND

In order to assist students in their pursuit of higher education, the MARCIA A. MORRISON FUTURE LEADER'S ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP was formed to assist college students in need of scholarship support funds. Marcia Morrison earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY in ST. LOUIS and dual Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees in Entrepreneurial Management and Strategic Management with a strong concentration in Finance from THE WHARTON SCHOOL of the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League institution and one of the top graduate business schools in the world. Ms. Morrison is the CEO and Founder of the IMPACT OmniGroup, LLC, a company that provides strategic business, financial and entrepreneurial consulting and operational excellence guidance to business executives for the achievement of real profitability and tangible results. She is also president and founder of Morrison Ministries, Inc., a non-profit ministry service organization that develops books and other materials and conducts teaching and training for the spiritual enrichment and development of leaders and laity alike. Ms. Morrison is an author, entrepreneur; public itinerate speaker, minister of the Gospel, mentor, instructor, consultant and mother. She has received nearly 15 academic scholarships, fellowships and awards to help complete her college studies. ELIGIBILITY
  • Must be a female student with intended college majors in any discipline of Engineering or Business
  • Must be accepted at a college or university at the time of application and be enrolled at a college or university by August 15, 2010 (the application deadline).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities through extra-curricular activities and/or service within her community. Applicants must provide documentation to substantiate their academic and/or community involvement details


APPLICATION PROCESS

Eligible candidates must provide the following:
  • A completed application (enclosed with this packet)
  • A copy of your letter(s) of acceptance from your college or university
  • Original high school transcripts (NO COPIES OR ALTERATIONS ACCEPTED)
  • 500 word essay. Please see details in the "Essay Question and Guidelines" section below.


APPLICATION DEADLINE

All applications and supporting documents must be received by August 15, 2010 by 11:59 pm EST.

NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.


AWARD AMOUNT & SPECIFICATIONS

Scholarship Award Amount: $500

Scholarship funds for the Marcia A. Morrison Future Leader's Academic Scholarship in the amount of $500 will be submitted directly to the award recipient's college or university. Morrison Ministries will present to the scholarship winner a letter of notification and congratulations and a certificate of award. No checks will be provided directly to the scholarship winner.


ESSAY QUESTION & GUIDELINES

Essays must consist of 500 words or less and be neatly typed, double-spaced with adequate margins (1"-1 1/2") on all sides. The theme of the essay is the following: "How I Will Use My Earned Degree to Help Advance the Kingdom Agenda". NO LATE ESSAYS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Essays that exceed the 500 word limit will be rejected and the candidate's application will not be accepted.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

1) The scholarship winner must be present on Sunday, September 19, 2010 in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida region where Ms. Marcia Morrison will announce and honor the award recipient.

2) Due to the volume of materials submitted by numerous candidates, no materials will be returned to the applicant and will become the property of Morrison Ministries once received.

3) Morrison Ministries will provide notification of whether or not applications are successful but will not be able to provide reasons why individual candidates are not selected as winners.
